Artists are true master gardeners and the flower has been the muse of many famous artists. Meaning has been attributed to flowers for thousands of years, and some form of Floriography (the language of flowers) has been practiced in all cultures everywhere.
Flowers are always present in ceremony and offerings, carrying signatures of healing, medicine and meaning. In the Victorian language of flowers they were used as codes to express emotion – honeysuckle for devotion, azaleas for passion, tulips for the perfect lover – there are many, many more. Also familiar to most of us perhaps is the remedial use of flowers in the essences that were popularly developed by physician Edward Bach. This was actually an ancient Egyptian technique and medicine for the soul – many people, and animals respond almost immediately to these emotional aids.
