  • Created using wood from our on-going “Hedges and Edges” project and alongside our educational Re-engage Re-inspire programme students, working to restore and maintain traditional Devon banks, hedges and borders.
  • Created using a traditional ring kiln and lovingly tended too throughout the night by our wonderful resident carpenter Ed Griffiths to ensure an even and long burn, our sustainably made charcoal uses the by product of  hedges and border maintenance and turns it back into a valuable product.
  • The “waste” from the charcoal process, Bio-Char, is used here on the hill to improve soil health and improve crop growth naturally.

The continuing care and management of this land and closing of waste cycles benefits wildlife, community, and the local economy.
