Wood workshops for younger people (Ages 12-16+)

This is an opportunity to learn basic knife techniques, making wooden flowers and feather sticks for lighting fires. After that, we will learn safe axe techniques for splitting wood for craft purposes, and then how to shape the wood with an axe. This will progress into making a reindeer, horse, or other animal, using small branches and also a saw, drill, and rounding plane.

Wood workshops for younger people (Ages 6-11)

This is an opportunity to learn woodworking skills and to make a number of items using a saw, drill, rasp and sanding devices, starting out with a coat peg made from a natural branch. Time allowing, we will then make some wooden flowers using a knife and small sticks cut from the hedgerow. Those with aptitude will continue to make feather sticks for fire lighting.
